put it on the guitar and play a couple of sweaty gigs - bigsbies are aluminum, and you'd be suprised how fast it gets dull.

Just like my life.

:) Oh well, I tried to speed it up a little anyway. Not by letting it breed, but I polished it a little with steelwool. Didn't make too much difference on the metal, but the black lacquered part with the Bigsby logo in relief etc looks a little less shiny now.
But I'll have some patience and trust Walter. The acid can wait.

Hey Billy........I think there is a picture of your guitar next to the definition of "MOJO"!!!! Man, that is a great git, it's got character and personality. Great stuff. 8)

Billy,

According to the Bible (the Moust book) the 1959 serial numbers start at about 8300 and end at 12035. (Guild's records aren't exact until the end of 1959.) Do you have a copy of Hans's book?

I actually have two copies one autographed by Hans in hard cover. My Guild in the picture is a 58.

I have 7 of them ranging from 58 to 60.

I don't like altering mint condition vintage guitars unless the modification can be reversed with no loss of value or change in the guitar's appearance. You should be OK installing a B3 or B6, but try and get one that says Guild for authenticity purposes.

Beautiful guitar, by way. I'd like one just like it.

Those damn Guild Bigsby's are going for more than $300 apiece on e-Bay. If you have a case or two stashed away there, Drumbob, please send me a PM.

Me too. Check the oil, tires, water, and clean the windshield.

I somehow didn't see your pics before the last post. I notice you have different combinations of bigsby types and bridge types. Are those for various tunings and strings?

Nah just whatever was around. I like bigsby bridges the best, but a TOM works just fine too. I prefer guild bigsby's but I will use whatever.

Somebody here recommended a bigsby saddle on a wood base to protect the finish. I'm going to do that on a couple of my guitars. Do you notice any difference in sound?
