Now here's a cool old steel. Count em, 8 strings & 4 pedals, surely even I could find the 1, 4, 5 chords on this thing & it's a sunburst.

It's up North a ways at trading Musician, just North of Green Lake. Way too cool.

Also have 6 vintage Guild acoustics in stock.

Jeff,
I would avoid that or any Gibson Electraharp like the plauge!
The pedal set up did not work very well and they were very difficult to keep in tune. A very primative set up indeed. Gibson had gotten into a patent dispute with the Harlin Bros. at the time and this design was the best they could come up with. Fell VERY short of being good for much other than a boat anchore. Most folks cant re-sell them fast enough! many were returned to the store were purchased within weeks  ... just my 2 cents!

....Edtided to say:
Usually, you can buy one on Flea-bay for 300-500.00

Messing with pedal steels is fine for anyone and its not as hard as most think. Just NOT any Gibson PEDAL steel...on the other hand...Gibsons non-pedal steel guitars are fine and usually a good investment as long as they have been kept original...think Don Helms, steel guitar player for Hank Williams! Other than that any name brand steel guitar is probably ok as long as its NOT a student model ( for a few dollars more you can buy a PRO inst and get good resale value) if you can play six string guitar the switch to pedal steel is not too hard:

Mullens are very well built, nice sounding steel guitars with a record of good service from the manufacturer. Herby Wallace a noted swing and jazz player plays Mullens exclusively.

My next new steel guitar will probably be a Mullen since they dont make my beloved SHO~BUDs anymore

PS: pedal steels can also double as an electric cheese slicer

Sooo ! I assume this is a more suitable unit.

Criminy, what an intimidating machine. Looks like it could double as a flight simulator for NASA.

Looks like a loom of some sort to me..... :?:
