My lady recorded the CMA show a few days ago & we watched over the weekend. Anyone happen to catch it? Nice thing about recording TV shows, you can fast forward thru tedious stuff & commercials. Saves a lot of time.

I'm a country music fan but since when did Country acts add Brass Sections, I saw 2 or 3 acts with horns. Not so sure it's a good thing.

Could ya'll help me out, I'm not sure but can Taylor Swift actually sing? Me being an unqualified critic, I have doubts:

They've been there a while. Remember "Ring of Fire"?
There was an outfit called the Nashville Brass.
I think Charlie Rich used a horn section.
I know B.J. Thomas did because my cousin was in it for several years.
If it's tasteful and the arrangements are suitable, I don't have a problem with it. But then, I played trumpet professionally for eight years. I would've taken one of those gigs at the drop of a Stetson.

Just how I feel about horns intruding in Blues music, Jeff.

It's all cool I guess, me I figure Steel Guitar players pretty well got Country country music covered. Now steels are showing up in Blues, nothing new, except better gear.

I like horns, we have a bluesman, local here, named Randy Oxford, plays trombone. We've caught him in couple local blues houses & at a festival last Summer. Might be a bit refined for a Delta Fan but he can make that trombone cook, always plays with a bunch of good blues musicians,

I had a friend once played the tuba, much cooler than you would think. Tubas can get down, Some fun stuff.

Great tuba on Firehouse Five stuff, mate.

You know them ?

Sure: Dixieland.

I once spent an evening on a Paddlewheeler Party Boat up the Mississippi from New Orleans, A Dixieland Band played the whole voyage. Enjoyed it immensely, I think they were pretty good, sort of lost track, the Scotch Whisky was excellent.

Blues, jazz , Dixeland was everywhere in New Orleans, Mississippi is one big freaking river.

Back on track

I think she has a decent voice, but probably better suited to a different style of music. It's almost like she's trying to interject (unnaturally) those "country" characteristics.
