How about something like "Today in Musical History".

I suspect that a lot of geezers will understand this.........

It's just plain interesting to learn stuff you didn't know about. and.......

A reminder of a specific past event, for me, very often triggers tangential memories of "times past" with some great (and not so great) moments being re-lived for a short while. You can veer off from there in a million different directions.
All great stuff for the thinking geezer, with a functioning memory.

And talking about functioning mammaries, Jeff could keep us appraised of the milestones in Cher's illustrious career ! If in fact, they do still function, which, given that they're possibly not hers, they probably don't.

And, how many times have you been reminded that one of your heroes was born/died/released a milestone album on this date, and thought "I haven't listened to X in years", and spun-up an old album and had an absolutely fab. time ? Put a smile on your face and enhanced your day didn't it !
I'd have to confess that on some occassions a "reminder" has often triggered hours of aural pleasure, and the consumption of far more alcohol and herbal jazz cigarettes than is good for any human being !

Mention of Wayne Newton and Barry Manilow to result in instant expulsion from the Forum.

I've just realized that it's still "yesterday" in North America, and I guess, lots of other places as well.

So, here's a significant event to kick-start the subject...........

August 25th 1950. Gary Raymond Walker, AKA Coastie99 born in Hastings, New Zealand. Parents reportedly very afraid.

Coastageezer or should I say Garageezer,

Let's see, that makes you ah....ah........56! I don't believe I'd a told that :D . Na, just kidding and a very Happy Belated Birthday to you my friend.

Herbal jazz cigarettes? :?:

The "Today in History" section sounds like a great idea. Of course, some of us have a little more "history" than others.

Hope you have another 50 birthdays.

Well thanks guys.

Don't know if I want to have another 50 birthdays - the thought of being 106 rather horrifies me. But then, once upon a time, the thought of being as old as my grand-parents horrified me !

I really can't grasp the fact that I'm "old" after such a short time !
But, I'm absolutely in no doubt that I wouldn't want to start all over again.

Hey Jake,
Does your Bluesbird AAA have any indication on the label that it has a AAA top?

I consider mine to have AAA "Looks" but I have no reason to say it is a AAA top.

Sorry to Hijack the thread.

:D Hi Mr. P, you are afew hours north of me. Do you ever get to B'ham?

As far as the AAA, I do not have any fire looking flame like I've seen on some. My cherryburst has a nice top & so does my TRP one. I have no markings which say anything. I like my tops. Some of that flamey stuff starts to look cheap afer awhile.

Jake, the flamey stuff really does look cheap when old. Look at West.

I never expected to live THIS long, but I don't think I'd mind starting over - IF I could start at driving age and IF I still know all I know already. Not that I know a lot; I just learned most of it the hard way and I don't think I want to experience that much pain again!

West,

You know what Dolly Parton said: "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap."

And you know what Michael Jackson said: "Did I shave my legs for this?"

Dad Gummit!

I forgot. This is the weekend we were all supposed to show up at Coastie's for the big jam session............and it was his birthday weekend!

What a missed opportunity. Small logistical problem....no airport in Greymouth.

Next year Coaster.

And Darryl, at the risk of sounding like Jeff talking about Cher, I think Dolly STILL looks pretty darned good for her age....for any age :D .

Yes, Emmy is a fox of a mature woman. She recently did a show with Neil Young that aired on PBS recently. I just saw bits and pieces, but she's still lookin' good. Still sings like a bird too.

I'll bet Emmy was the finest of the pieces. And what bits! I saw her live. She was wearing a thin top. And it was cold.... Either that or she noticed me.
