Hey Billy,

Here's my 1959 T-100DP. It's tobacco sunburst and my '68 CE-100 is a blond. I love early 60s blondes, and if I ever see a blond T-100DP, I'm snatching it up! Also posted is my '68 DP and my lost love '64!

A mother bought the T-100 new for her son, who had played it for a few months and then stuffed it under the bed, where it sat for 40 years. Amazing!

As is common, the binding shrank, and the pots were a little scratchy. I've since had the binding fixed and I've started to nick and scratch my own history into it. Although overjoyed at the condition, I'm not into keeping museum pieces--guitars must be played!

And my X-500T that I got from Guild when I was an endorser http://www.billydlight.com/X500T/

My early 1960 T100 has a back story like that too - well, I don't know the story, but the guitar was barely played and came to me in time capsule condition. People always think it is a new guitar. It even managed to escape the binding woes. It likes flatwound strings and long walks on the beach.
I'll never understand putting something like that under the bed for a few decades, but I'm glad a few people did.

Wow! That's quite an assortment you have there. I especially like the rounded inlays in the X-400. It's like a little reminder of the Epiphone pedigree in Guild, although I don't know if that's what influenced it. Thanks for sharing!

Any pics of your T-100 teleharmonium? I'm kinda curious since ours are only a year apart.

Hey JP, no, I don't have a digi cam. There's a '60 T100 on gbase that has all the same appointments as mine except the knobs, in fact I've played it because it is in a local shop, but mine is much cleaner and also was cheaper. The pics make it look like it is in great shape, but it actually shows a good amount of ageing and play wear in person, which is a somewhat disturbing discrepancy.

The knobs on my guitar are the clear plastic ones with numbers on the skirt, which look sort of amber now.

 I was thinking to myself (while reading tele's post) there's a good reason gbase gear is priced higher than the rest of the world, that gbase subscription is very expensive. Then, while admiring the guitar in that link, I finally scrolled to the bottom of the page for the details....I literally said "Holy Crap" out loud!

Sure, but for a basement hobby business like mine, I can't justify it.

Hi teleharmonium,

I've seen and drooled over that pic before, and although I live in the Pacific NW, I came from Ohio and know that shop. If I'm not mistaken, it used to be only one room and very tiny. It seem huge now!

Yeah, the price is crazy, and it's been on Gbase for a while now. I favor the slimmer 60s necks, though, and despite condition I'd gladly swap my '59 tobacco sunburst straight up for it. It reminds me so much of my first CE-100. The blondes seem to wear nicely, and I like that era of pickguard.

jp - yeah, that shop used to be small, and it's predecessor Jimmy D's was the same size, but man, those were the days. If I would have only had money back then... he had custom color Jazzmasters for under a grand, etc, etc. It hurts to think about.

I have generally liked thinner necks, but my blonde T100 has started to change me. It's my favorite player. It's not as chunky as the neck on a '54 Guild I played in Chicago over the weekend, which was the 3 pickup model with a round cutaway, which had major binding issues, worn finish and heavily played fingerboard and was still expensive, but it is bigger than the neck on my '66. The '60 has heavy flatwounds and slightly high action, but it's such a pleasure to play on that neck shape with the smooth, sunken in old finish and perfect frets with no buzzing anywhere, it's made me a better player since I bought it last year.

I looked at that T100 in the store again the other day, and I should correct myself a little bit to say that the wear/ageing really isn't that bad, it is just a sharp contrast to mine because mine is so clean and because that one is so overpriced. There's nothing wrong with the guitar as such other than the price tag, if somebody got a better deal on it I would think they would be happy with it, there are no replaced parts, repairs or binding issues that I could see.
