Never heard that song before. Thanks for posting! And how about the TONE of Buddy's acoustic!!!!!

As for the car, it's bogus. Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction had it as their feature car two years ago when it was pulled from the auction.

In short, the guy who owned/restored it got caught up in his lie and confessed it was a forgery.

"And the rest is just rock and roll..." Hi Pockets Duncan

Damn shame we lost him so young...couple of years into it, still a kid, and he was in my opinion as big an influence on the birth of R&R as anyone..Here he is.... probably 1 mike, 1guitar, one voice, and some hand clapping...no production, no studio, no effects, and Buddy sounds GREAT Steffan

Buddy Holly...definitely had his moments, BUT way over-rated.

Whoa...

Don't try and sell that to The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi, The Who, The Hollies, Peter Green, and many others who list him as their major inspiration.

I was 14 when Buddy died, and he had a lot to do with the birth of R&R. Remember his career was barely 3 years. A huge star with major hits. Buddy, Elvis, the Everly Brothers, all these guys built the foundation of R&R in the 50s...and when that plane went down...we were in shock, like losing family members, Ricky Nelson, was in there too, less recognition though....Leo Fender had only been building electrics for a few years back then...so the birth of rock came as much thru Buddy as any body, and he did write most of his own stuff, unlike Elvis..didn't Paul buy the rights to Buddys music...hmm....Steffan

Don't get me wrong, I really like Buddy Holly, but the facts don't support the hype. His first record charted in august of 1957, which makes him far removed from "the birth of rock and roll".

His first three records made it to the top ten ( a huge accomplishment), but then he faded fast (three of his next seven records didn't even make the top 40, and none charted higher than 17).

As for his influence...the Beatles only covered Buddy twice ("words of love" and "crying waiting hoping")....this puts him FAR down the list of artists they covered. I don't hear a lot of Buddy Holly influence on the Beatles recordings (or Rolling Stones, or any one else for that matter).

I don't completely understand why. True, Buddy wasn't a great guitarist or vocalist, but his songs are way better than most of the songs written by recording artists of the era. I listen to Buddy's records and I hear at least five songs that I think should have topped the charts.

Still, facts are facts, and as much as we like Buddy, take away his untimely death, and we're not talking about him.
