Ha! I took that two ways - it's not a Guild, and Halvorson doesn't really "play guitar". But her "playing" may only be my opinion, not yours, Hans!

Help me out here. Places that are not LTG have respect for Mary Halvorson and her musical chops on guitar. Interviews mention her Artist Award. So I'm not sure whether there is a comment about her playing or merely an expression of disinterest in her music. As for the "logo" there has got to be a story or at least a really bad camera angle but we don't know how it happened, do we?

I am so with you on this Walrus, I beleive this subject has been dicussed quite vehemently in the past!

More like karate chops on the guitar!

Well, what I understood Hans said it's not a Guild, look at the guitar!

The logo, the fret markers -- not like any Guild we've even seen. I don't know enough about electrics to know whether the pickups and knobs and tailpiece, etc., is at all Guild-ish.

But Halvorson has good ears. She wouldn't have bought the guitar just because it said "Guild" on the headstock; she would have bench tested it, so clearly she likes the sound. Maybe she liked the fake Guild so much she bought real ones?!

Whether you like Halvorson's playing or not is a matter of personal taste, and we all know what opinions are like.

But she can't be faulted for her technique -- she's a master. I'm not a huge fan by any means, but I have friends who have played with her and describe her as a formidable player.

And I like that she's shaking things up and pissing some people off. Always a good sign!

It's also enpowering for women to see someone like Halvorson doing what she's doing, making waves, and making little boys quiver in their boots a bit.

Go, Mary, go!

Guild endorser Jimmy Wyble. I like how for the ad slick, Guild used the photo from Jimmy's album and photoshopped in the harp tailpiece. They must have given him a new guitar for the Benny Goodman/Red Norvo ad (you can see the engraving on the harp tail).

Posted lots of stuff from Bill/Buffalo Tom over the years. One of my favourite bands. I think he has had that JF30 (or a similar one) since the early 90s at least.

We usually see Peter with his F-30, but here’s another simian with a Guild dread.
