Indeed Tim, such was my thought. I appreciate all input. Would you or someone else care to offer a notion on a maximum bid?

What I'm asking is what are these things worth ordinarily? What would a reasonable BIN be for example?

VERY good information to pass along my friend, thank you! I would not mind a vintage Guild amp but I would like it to have tubes that are still available. So with that in mind for what should I be on the lookout?

Anything that has 6l6s or 7591 tubes. Mavericks, Thunderbirds, Thunderstars, Thunderbasses.
Quantum- and some Thunderbasses have 8417 tubes, alpep has a supply of these. Thunder 1s have 6gw8 tubes, which can still be found, but it's a very clean tube in Guild's circuit design, so it's not a grinder, it's a jazz amp. 66J and 99J amps come up frequently and are pretty clean amps, but you can jumper the channels and get them to distort. They use 6V6 and 6L6 tubes, which are easy to get.
