Guys,

I don't know the answer to this and I'm hoping somebody out there does.

I have a '90's Duo Jet Case. Will it fit any of the Guild Aristocrat/Bluesbird type guitars???

I am too hard caseless for my 70' bluesbird :(

Sorry so late on this one but just got around to checking.
I have a 90's Duo Jet case:
69 M-75 very tight at the headstock, not good.
54 Aristocrat fits great.
Newer Bluesbird (serial number CM(H?) 000104 fits great
73 M-75 too loose.
I also bought case that was listed as a S-100 case and my 69 M-75 fits fine with a t-shirt in front of the top of the body so it doesn't slide forward when carrying it.
Hope this helps,

Hey Dogman,

When and where did you pick up that M75 with Dynasonics? Is that the guitar with the white "custom" headstock? If no can you post a picture of it?

Hey guys, original poster here.

A friend of mine has had a mid-'50's Aristocrat since the late '60's, albeit in a gig bag. A true musician, he's been looking for a case 'the whole time'. I remembered that I'd bought a Duo Jet case in the '90's and still had it in storage. I got some Duo Jet measurements off the 'net and pulled the Aristocrat lower bout width measurements from Hans' book. I figured we'd have a shot at an 'okay fit', but wasn't sure.

I dropped the case off at his house the other day and told him to see if worked with his guitar. My buddy said the '90's Duo Jet case, 'fit the Aristocrat like a glove'. Success!

So there you have it: My friend and dogman have reached similar conclusions, based on independent testing!

I appreciate all the input. I mean, where else could you go to find an information source for a project that spanned 40 years and 2 different guitar brands?

matsickma,

Not the one with the funky headstock. Mine is a 70 or 71(Can't remember at the moment) hollow M-75 with the Dearmonds. Black in color. A little worn but sounds sweet. I will try to upload a photo or 2 as soon as I get a chance.

A 1970 hollow M75 (Bluesbird/Aristocrat)! That is an unusual bird. I'd love to see a picture of that guitar and see how the DeArmonds are installed.

Most of the ones from the '69-'70 period that I've seen had the DeArmond pickups mounted in black plastic frames, so the pickups could be mounted lower in the body.

Hans, once again you are correct. They are mounted in black plastic rings that to me look like they covered the already cut Humbucker holes. Is this how they mounted the dynasonics? I think I read that these were custom order specs.

Wow, I've never seen one of those ...
How would you compare the sound between this one and one of your M-75s? Brighter?

yawninzak, no comparison. The dyno's are way more twangy, bright than the HB 1's. They break up way cooler than the humbuckers also. Much brighter much tighter sound. I like the sound of these for any kind of twangy music. The HB-1's sound great but just in a different way. I find you must have an aquired taste for dyno's. They are just so much different than any other single coil PUPS. If you get a chance to be in the DC area let me know and you can demo them.
