Why does your cat lick your head at 5am, furiously scratch carpets on re-entry, go on walks and more

Ok, so this looks just like Iris at 5am starting on my rear ear because I sleep just like this.

NE1 got a headlicker like this?

It's not that much fun, and don't let them lick your face, but it just means they love you and see you as family.

Ok, what about mad scratching coming back in the house or conversely when you come home?

It's emotional, and they have scent glands in their paws?

"Scratching is a normal, instinctive cat behavior. Cats have a need to scratch. They do it to express emotions, like excitement or stress, to mark objects with their scent (they have scent glands in their paws), to remove the dead part of their nails and, often, just to get a good stretch."

Next up, walks.

A terrible idea actually, they can't bear the thought of you leaving, follow you, only to have hunting instincts kick in and willfully refuse to follow you back, at your own risk, but you may be having to catch it and carry it back for its own safety.

A harness? I'm thinking of it, and supposedly some cats take to it well.

And this;

"Why does my cat follow me and no one else?

If your cat only follows you around, you can take that as a compliment. It's because he likes you best! Your cat likely feels more comfortable around you than he does around visitors or other members of your household (the same reason why your cat may knead you but not someone else).Oct 28, 2021"

Wife says it's "only because I feed her" ;[[

And no, kneading is not a typo.

Slight veer - we had gig tonight at local bar - it was packed - I was mixing w iPad - sitting on a stool in middle of the crowd - a woman was dancing in front of me and her bun touched my knee - so she turns around and sort of apologizes - I tell her : At my age it is always good when a woman touches you - no problem. She laughed and kept dancing.

We have two.

Fat cat is currently kneading my thigh. I'm the only one who he'll lay on his back for. Funny if I stop petting him he will place his chin on my arm or hand, after a few his ears go back and he opens his mouth a bit and eventually give me a little nosh to remind me of my duty to him.

Pie pie is becoming more affectionate now that his favorite human is at college. He jumps up on the back of the couch every morning as I leave for work to get a head scratch and then he'll headbutt me. My wife is amazed that I can rub his paws and stick a finger in between the toes without him clawing me.

Pardon the lingo but I love the FU look a cat will give you when it doesn't want to be bothered.

Beecee,
Our cats can't even be bothered to give me a FU look when they don't want to be bothered.
