Hi... I'm a long-time Guild owner/player. But I don't know a lot about the history.

I have a 1979 D55, and a 1976 F412. Where were these guitars built? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have googled and serached here and still can't figure it out. If you can point me to a resource, that would be great!

Thanks!

Hi hogrider and welcome to LTG: the most comprehensive source for Guild guitar information through 1977 is The Guild Guitar book by Mr. Hans Moust who is a member of this BB. For information from 1978 through 1994, Guitar History, Volume 5, Guild Guitars by Mr. Ted Beesley. Mr. Beesley's book is not as in-depth as Mr. Moust's book but it is a useful guide to the models and their details. Again, welcome to LTG. CJ

Welcome, nice guitars you have there! Pictures? Your F-412 is the same year as my D-25, the bi-centennial year was a good one for Guilds.

I'm curious - no Guild sticker on the inside of the bodies? The oval sticker usually says "Westerly".

First, thanks to all of you for your friendly welcome!

And, Dreadnut is right!! I don't know why I didn't think to look at the Guild stickers inside the soundholes for a manufacture location! And you are all correct, both of them DO have the Westerly, RI, label. As for photos, I keep trying to take some but they never turn out good enough to post. (Any advice on that?)

The D55 has a Fishman Active Matrix pickup.. The F412 has an L.R. Baggs dual source pickup system. To me, each of the pickups have their good and not so good points.

Thanks for the help and I look forward to learning more about my "Babies".

Run now, while there's still time! Wait a minute, you have TWO Guilds? Ah, nevermind. Maybe it's too late already.

Yeah.....he's toast.
I'm late on the welcome, but welcome hogrider and good luck! :D
