My beef with the D4s is that they are so sneaky....they reach out and grab you...steal your attention...convince you that they are irresistible, they follow you home and move in to your place, with or without your invitation..tend to stay for a long time, and other musicians are always flirting with them too.... Merry Xmas

So my daughter's boyfriend wants to buy her a guitar to start playing (again), and I have been thinking a new GAC M20 (for the 500.00 he can afford) -- and now I see this D4 you all have been talking about (relisted). Ummmm, thinks I to myself. Kids like shiny news things, but MY kid should know better....

Wow, two very different guitars. The M20 being "concert" size with a mahogany top, the D4 a Dreadnought with spruce top. The D4 would retain its value better, but the smaller size may be attractive to a girl/woman. D4 nice loud crisp sound with a great bass. The M20 a more delicate, warm sound, traditionally better for fingerstyle.

I'd be happy with either.

The one I heard just sounded too light and airy and trebly, a wannabe Taylor it seemed.

Well, we know every guitar is at the least just a tiny bit different from another supposedly identical guitar, but that observation would make me wonder about how it was was set up. As a counterpoint, I do have to dig into the D25 pretty good to get really good bass, but it's good enough to play "cheater bass" licks in a jam.

My DV52 is like that. I have to hit it and palm it just right and the bass notes sceram off of her. Just strumming -- nada....
