Went to Elderly Instruments today

Well that was interesting. Not sure if due to Covid, but their acoustic guitar inventory was only about half of what it used to be. Normally, they would have 40-50 Martins hanging in the acoustic room, today only about 20. Probably a dozen Collings, 5 Waterloos (made by Collings in Austin, but about half the price of Collings,)
a few Santa Cruz and Froggy Bottoms, and only one Guild in the whole store, a GF40 with a price tag of $1,999. Last time I was there they had a whole big display of Oxnard Gulids. No Gibsons, they quit dealing in Gibsons a few years ago due to quality issues. Several vintage guitars, hung up real high on the wall.

Still fun to see and play the different guitars!

Lots of products have shortages, guns, ammo, autos, even the brewery in town said they can't keep up with demand.

I’m in my local Guitar Centers at least once a week and they have hardly any inventory. Only 1 or 2 used guitars at any given time. The General Manager says they get them in but the sell almost immediately. People are stuck inside and looking for things to do. I love it! I’ve had several of my employees take up the guitar. I did the set ups for them. The more the merrier!!

Slight veer but a Covid related supply issue.

Talking to the NAPA store in the big city, putting in an order for a couple semi truck batteries, motor oil, and "do you have any mechanics gloves, and he says "we haven't seen any blue nitrile - or the heavier duty black - for 5 months." What the?

My local bulk petroleum place, next call, says "no blue, just black @ $26 a box/100 or heavier duty orange @ $43 a box." $43 a box? Yeah says he "before Covid, they were $17 a box and now my cost is $39 and I should be selling them for $50." Ugh...

I’m a GM at Advance Auto and yes, gloves are tough to come by. I try to add order every morning when I get to work usually to no avail. When I find them I load up do I will be in stock for my customers. They are all shipping to medical staff. We get left overs.

You may be right. Local guitar store has more Martins, Eastmans and Taylors than Guitar Center
Good guitar stores are fun to visit. Haven't been to Elderly since I moved from Michigan.
