He talked about it the evening I saw him play. The (walanut, I think) arm rest was by his request, and was the 1st of a kind, don't know if there are any others, and it was a challlenge for Taylor to get it right for him but he ended up a very happy camper..He buys and pays for his own guitars by the way.(that is what the sponsor of the music store told me )..He is very good for Taylor methinks...Steffan
I’ve seen a R. Taylor with the armrest just like the photo above at Madison Music in Madison Wisconsin. I don’t recall the exact price, but I do remember it was over 10K. Last time I was there for strings I was told it got sold to someone out west. Nice looking instrument, but a wee bit out of my price range.

Last time I saw Doyle play (last spring) he played and talked about that R. Taylor 12-string. He said that when amped through his system it really doesn't sound any different from the lower-end Taylor mahogany 12-strings, and that it makes him very nervous to put that $12,000 guitar on an airplane. He said he was seriously considering not using it for his shows any more when he has to fly and just using his older ones. The black one in Graham's photo above is a standard Taylor 12 string with maple back and sides.

Yep, that's the one.
$12,000 guitar. Mahogany body from "The Tree"

The black one in Graham's 2nd photo is a standard Taylor maple 12 string. Model 654ce.

Watching his stuff or Tommy E's stuff always inspires me to get better. I usually am a little lazy about watching their stuff because I'm not in the mood for a challenge. DD is an amazing guitar player to say the least.
