Well Pixie had 8 puppies this morning, sadly, 2 of them didn't survive. 😔 So she is busy nursing six puppies; she hasn't even stepped out of the whelping box yet.

So we have 4 blacks and 2 apricots. F2b Goldendoodles. They will be non-shedding. All are spoken for already. One is going to a family with a special needs child; they already have one of our previous puppies. A few of our previous puppies went to families with special needs kids, and one is a companion dog for a guy who had a stroke. They are such sweet, mellow dogs.

Congratulations!!

Sorry two didn't make it.

I recall one day I was complaining about something to a friend and ended my rant with, "What is the meaning of life!?"

She paused a moment and said, "Puppies."

I stopped and looked at her. "Puppies? Puppies!"

And I was smiling and the bad mood was gone.

Well it's been a week of joy and sorrow. Pixie laid on one of the puppies and it died, we couldn't revive her, it was the only female. So 5 puppies left.

Yesterday we took them in for their dew claw removal, and the Vet said the pups were dehydrated because Pixie wasn't producing enough milk. Turns out Pixie had retained some placenta and got an infection in her uterus. So they tube-fed all the puppies and we'll be bringing them home today, and start the bottle feeding program. Meanwhile, Pixie is on antibiotics, and the are going to do surgery on her today, and remove her uterus. They expect she will be able to get back to nursing the pups when she comes home.

What a bunch of drama. We won't be doing this again any time soon (never.)

Our last three litters were a breeze; 35 puppies and not a single problem.

So sorry things have taken an undesirable direction. Hoping Pixie will recover quickly and the pups will flourish under your care and hers when she gets back home.

Thanks all. That little female was only a few hours old, and we cried like we lost a family member. I guess we sorta did.

This thread had me going back and looking at my dog pictures.
Here is my wife with our first ever dog, Ellie the Briard. Taken in 1983 when we got home from my fathers funeral.

Mama Pixie and the 5 puppies are all back home now and doing well. Pixie had surgery, but she is still able to nurse the puppies, which is great because we had to bottle feed them every 3 hours the last couple days. Our kids (adults) have been very helpful in taking care of the puppies, staying up at night to feed them, etc.

Hopefully that's the end of the drama for a while.

We're not going to keep a puppy, but our son and his wife will be taking one, so all in the family!
