I see so many threads online from people who are looking for the optimal humbucking pickup or Strat pickup or . . .

But the other day, it occurred to me that one of the best things about the NS LB-1 pickups (besides the fact that they sound great) is that they are an odd size. That means there' s no aftermarket flooded with replacement pickups for me to wonder about. And that's a very good thing.

I have justified one pickup basses because on my bad days having a tone and a volume is more choices than I can handle.

Wellll...you could always put in original 60ies vintage Guild mini-humbuckers or send the new LB-1s somewhere to re-wind them hotter...just as examples. So it's not totally out of question to replace them with something (obviously also Guild) that sounds maybe different.
