My Grandfather was from Glasgow, I believe. I never met him. He had to try to come over on a boat twice. They sent him back as a child of 10 the first time because he had a a foot issue or birth defect. We don't want no cripples who can't support themselves, was the moto back then.

You need to get to the Borders, and also to the Highlands. The seat of my clan is at Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, and I think Skye is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, if a bit too remote for me. My dad loved the Borders south of Edinburgh, and Peebles in particular, and after being there I can see why. Looks like a perfect place to live to me.

This nearby view inspired a lot of great works by Sir Walter Scott.

Hard to believe as it is, it's even prettier in the Highlands.
The Highlands are beautiful. We drove from Edinburgh to Sterling and then up through the Cairngorms to Inverness then to Drumnadrochit near Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness. Then Glencoe down to Loch Lomond, such a beautiful drive, and back to Edinburgh. Every view, every meal, every person we met, the best! I also loved the haggis in all its forms. Not to mention whisky at every meal, if you liked. And we did, many meals.😁 We do want to spend time in the Borders next time.
