I though I would share this here if anyone is in the market for a Thunderbass head. I also was going to tell a friend to look into it who recently told me he's looking for a bass head. do you think the asking price is reasonable? thanks for any input.

but if someone here wants it, go for it!

What we need to know is what tubes are in it. They used either 6L6's (for about 50 watts) or 8417's for 50 or 100 watts, depending on the plate voltage. The 100 watt version was the Quantum Bass. In any case, you need to find out what the service record is. New 3 prong plug and caps, go for it!

its got the 6L6's so its the 50 watt. they are actually the original RCA tubes and need to be replaced at this time. it has the original 2 prong cord, and sounds like it hasnt been serviced recently, if at all. so it sounds like its all original and will need the caps/resistor job...overall the once over/cleaning, and the cord. i had a pro do all this on my 1971 guild maverick amp and was very happy. it did cost me some $ though.

any input on the value of this amp "as is?" thanks for any info
