My relative guitarist was over today and we had our yearly jam session. He lives across the country so we don't see each other much.
He blasted 50's-60's oldies thru the speakers and played guitar over it and I played bass. At home, he cycles for two hours a day through the songs on his iPhone.

Those olde tyme bass lines are something else. SOOOO simple yet so clever and beautiful and reminded me that the greatest bass lines don't have to be complicated. I had never played these songs before but they were all so surprisingly easy to play on the fly but they are such great content that it was like getting a bass lesson just from playing these oldies. When you hear them, the content is so good it doesn't dawn on you how crazy simple to play they are. It's like an optical illusion.

Guild content: I played the Green Starfire II. (He played the blue flower Strat).

What's your favorite oldie bass line?
