We have a team-relay race every year on Memorial Day weekend to show off that "variety of terrain" in fact. It's called Ski to Sea and starts at the ski area and winds its way down and across the bay, with a series of legs: XCountry ski, downhill ski, 8-mile run, road bike, canoe, mountain bike, and kayak to the finish line. First team's kayaker to ring the big bell is the winner!

My inlaws lived for many years across the Sound in Port Ludlow, WA. Their home was on the water and looked right at Mt Baker. Gorgeous part of the world!
