Don't have a Guitar Bluebook in hand but I suspect that's probably the top of the value guide if not more. They weren't very popular, in fact were dropped by '98 I think. The HR finish was the lowbuck finish of the period. As a counterpoint there've been many posts from guys looking for small body guitars with 1-3/4" nut and that would fill the bill as a genuine Westerly to boot. Basically, decent D25's are seen in that ballpark, that's why I think it's a bit high. But that IS just a "BIN" price if you know what I mean.

The BIN price is more than 200 over the Blue Book's rating for "excellent condition" (525-600)
I picked up one a while back for 500. Didn't keep it long enough to add it to my signature. Sold it for what I paid so no big whoop!

Thanks guys. I saw one on Elderly in the $500 range. This seemed high. But I am looking to purchase a Westerly era small body. I love my GAD F20, but would really like an American F20, M20, or F30. I'll keep looking. 8)

You can order the latest download catalog from: https://store.bluebookinc.com/Ecom/Prod ... ry=2&id=69 You can also order a hard copy catalog at the same site. In my 2006 (10th edition) the A25 is listed at 525-600 for the hand rubbed (HR) model (excellent condition) and 700-800 for a high gloss (HG) in excellent condition. Take off 150-300 for wear and tear...

My last edition is the 10th; time to order a new one...

Call me old fashioned but I like the feel of the actual book.
Mine is "The Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars, 11th Edition."
Intriguing read. Lots of useful info if you happen to be shopping.

A combination of the Blue book and the Vintage Guitar price guide gives you a good feel for most models. To get a good idea for what popular examples are selling for, search, under advanced search, in ebay for completed listings. An average of actual sold examples will tell you what the market is, if you have enough examples. At the end of the day, it comes down to if the instrument is speaking to you. Buying without playing has it's risk, but out of 20 (ok, I said the number  ) plus Guilds I've bought in the last few years, only a couple didn't work for me - and the people I sold them to love them - so maybe it's me!
All I can tell you is look hard, but don't cheap yourself out. The one that got away from me was a DV 62 that I fretted over for a week and then tried to get 50 bucks off - while I talked to one guy in the shop about it, on the phone with my credit card in my hand, another guy sold it to a fellow for their asking price, which was $925! I love deals, but I love nice guitars even better.
Good luck!

Here's an interestng A25 thread from a while back. I believe the A50 is the same guitar in rosewood.
