I went down the Wayback Machine rabbit hole and found the day I signed up for The Guild Pages (pre-LTG) in 2003. Scroll to the bottom and there's GGJaguar. :)

If you click around you'll find several familiar LTGers (past and present). And given that this was 17 years ago... I feel fricken old.

Did time exist before LTG?

When I joined 14 years ago in June 2006, I think there were about 275 members. Now there are nearly 25,000!

Well... not exactly. Probably 20,000 of those are spammers that I banned before the move to the new software.

That's cool! Predates me by a few years. I like the photos at the top of the page!

Some of the topics are interesting, but alas, they were not saved by the Wayback Machine. 😟

Before joining LTG, I had more money and more closet space. But less Guilds. So the verdict - worth it.

Yeah, but remember how heavy those stone guitars were? Like playing boulders!! And zero resonance. It's better now.....

Golly I've been here over 9 years! I sure have learned a lot and have a long ways to go as well. I'm happy with my decision to hang out here 9 years ago. Lot's of super nice people. When I first came here i only had two guitars, LOL!!

My first foray into an online forum was around 2000. Chris Martin would frequent that board (not umgf), but left after getting a lot of negative feedback from people like me when he introduced Micarta fretboards & bridges on 16-Series instruments in 2001 without changing listed specs (striped ebony was used before the switch). Even dealers didn’t realize the change had occurred & would mistakenly tell customers it was ebony.

Guess not a lot has changed, because I still won’t buy a guitar with a Micarta or Richlite B&B!

Likewise - the Yamaha and the DV-6.

Sigh.
