For me, it was more doo-wops and rockabilly: The Flamingos, The Spaniels, Gene Chandler, The Rivingtons, The Clovers, The Diamonds, Gene Vincent and the Blue Claps, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochrane, Carl Perkins, Johnny Burnette, Duane Eddie, Link Wray, Everly Brothers, etc..

Could be I was born 10 years earlier than you...

It was everything for me. My parents played swing, jazz, opera and classical. My sisters played Motown, Donovan, CSN(Y), Beach Boys and top 40 pop. My brother played Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I was exposed to a lot of different music and, ultimately, developed my own eclectic tastes.

The Temptations and The Four Seasons were the top two groups of the 60's; no and's, if's, or but's. I couldn't name a one or a two, both were one's. Let me clarify, that is vocal groups, not Rock and Roll bands although not matter where you put them, no one is ahead of the Beatles.

Got to admit, I don't remember "Since I lost my baby". When I think of the Temptations, I think of the following hits: "My Girl", "Just My Imagination", and "I Wish It Would Rain".

I am in Carl Perkins home town, Jackson, Tennessee. I've seen Carl perform locally. When I worked at Parks Belk, Carl would come in late the week before Christmas to buy presents. He was always kind and humble.

The biggest tip I've ever left for a waiter was one night on our anniversary at Jack Binion's in Shreveport. Our young black waiter and I struck up a conversation and I mentioned how beautiful my wife was. He agreed and asked if it was a special occasion? I mentioned it was the celebration of our wedding day. During dinner the waiter comes over with 3 of his waiter friends. They all wished us happy anniversary, then broke into this song in harmony. After dinner we didn't order dessert and he asked us to wait just a minute. On the house he gave us a doggie box full of the most incredible chocolate covered strawberries I've ever sunk my teeth into. The "Temptations" made me think of this one Tom. From the movie.
