Hey this bored is badass. I currently rebuilding a Pilot Bass and have been unable to find out what machine heads and key tuners were used on the 1985 Pilot. So now I'm off to search. Awesome site!

Welcome. The man who has more Pilots than fingers may have an answer for you.

Thanks! I went from a 1983 Rose design Kramer to the Guild Pilot when I was 17 or so and have not picked up anything else. I just never paid attention to anything other then if I was able to play. As I got older I learned to appreciate the quality of the Pilot but never thought I'd be trying to build my own. Love Guild and Love SUNN.

Hello philvanv,

Welcome! Several different versions of basically the same tuner were used during 1985. If you give me the serial number, I should be able to tell you what was on the guitar originally.

Sincerely,

I guess I should have mentioned I have a copied body of the Pilot. o this is from scratch. I have no numbers just looking info up and asking a lot of questions. I can tell you I purchased it Jan 8th 1985..I was playing a Kramer and Rick at the time and I thought to myself this (Guild) is it, I'm never using another type of bass :p
