Good morning guild world.
Today marks the 2 month period since my surgery to remove cance. Still having pain, and its difficult getting use to no more hearing in left ear, however i am on the mend.
Now, the reason for my posting is this, did guild in fact make their own strings.
Or were their strings manufactured by fender( earlier) . I have a few customers at odds with the real answer, as some believe that yes ,guild and the drongs made their strings. Im not one that believes that . I know guild now puts daddarios on guitars leaving USA factory .

There were some Guild-branded string sets back in the Westerly era (which may have preceded Fender's ownership -- not sure), but I doubt they were every actually made by Guild. I don't think any of these were DR strings, by the way. I'm not at all sure what OEM strings were shipped.

As you noted, OEM strings (and I think there was at least one custom-sized string set as I recall) since at least the Tacoma era were (and are) D'Addario.

My recollection, always subject to correction, is also that Guild never actually made their own strings. There were times when someone else made strings for Guild and Guild sold those strings under their own brand name. While it might seem likely I recall no time when DR made strings that were sold as Guild or when Guild put DR strings on at the factory. By the time DR was formed there had been enough changes in Guild management that family ties were not important.

That sounds about right. There were always enough string makers in the NY area that Guild never needed to make their own, and in fact, it was probably cost ineffective to make their own in the quantities required.
