Don't know the album picture but there was a Youtube video showing the tape holding the pickup used, which I can't find. Otherwise his ES-175 is shown here in detail (without tape). It has a little Guild humbucker from the 60's, what Guild would call today a LB-1, here in the rare (or less seen) version with the Allen screws as pole pieces. Hans had previously reported such Allen screws for HB-1.On a record cover somewhere there is a picture of Jim Hall playing a Gibson archtop with an HB1 pup in neck position. The pickup appears to be mounted with duct or electrical tape. I will have to go look and see if I can find the album.
Another guitar Jim Hall used was his 1983 D'Aquisto using indeed a golden HB-1. But I see no tape there and who would tape such a valuable instrument as a D'Aquisto. On a record cover somewhere there is a picture of Jim Hall playing a Gibson archtop with an HB1 pup in neck position. The pickup appears to be mounted with duct or electrical tape. I will have to go look and see if I can find the album.
