I haven't had the opportunity to play a Guild with the white top dyna's like those on the '63 DE500 currently on ebay or Franz's like those on vintage X175's.

Does anyone know how they compare to early Gretsch dyna's?

I would like an addition to this group ('53 Gretsch 6192-3 & X500T), opinions?

The white-topped DeArmond pickups are the same as the earlier Gretsch ones, though all DeArmonds made after the late 50's seem to measure out a little hotter than the typical 9/10K found on older Gretsches. (the ones on my old Starfire are more than 12K..) Suprisingly, they do sound the same if not very similar.

What you "miss" in there is some Franz pickups!

A pair of Franz pups in a 17" x 3" spruce topped X175 is what I was thinking.

AJ - I get that alot :D

I'm really liking single coils in a "big box" right now. Pretty sure the X500T has Seymour Duncan Antiquitys (Guild P90's).

Yes it is, a nice player from the late 50s, great for Western Swing and Travis.

If it was a Guild it would be perfect!
