Just in case any of you are within driving distance of Asheville...

Two punk/indie legends will be at the Orange Peel tonight:

J. Mascis/Dinosaur Jr.

Re: Show tonight - WNC

Missed them when they were here in town : ( I was probably laying in bed reading The Poky Little Puppy to a sleepy kid. Original line up with Barlow and Murph too. That last record was pretty good.

I was pulled out some firehose the other day--brings me back to the days. . .

Missing fIREHOSE back in the day is one of my big regrets (I was too young when the Minutemen were touring). Ragin' Full On is classic!

...But I saw Mike Watt tonight (and they played The Red and the Black like fIREHOSE used to). And J. Mascis. THAT was one helluva show!

If they get close to you check 'em out.

(only crappy cell phone pics...for now...)

Curious note:

The Missingmen guitarist played a signature J. Mascis Jazzmaster, but Mascis did not. He played a vintage one until he broke a string, then a newer one. I'm not up on Fender models so I couldn't say anything more specific. Oh, and THREE Marshall full stacks.

Watt played a short scale SG bass, and pounded the livin' hell out of it!
