Hey!

I feel a bit sheepish for just noticing this, but on my JF-100, the serial number on the sticker and the one stamped in on the headstock are off by one digit.

Serial on sticker: AJ100X36
Serial on headstock: AJ100X56

Think its a simple mixup (like selecting a 5 instead of a 3 on the stamper)? Or something else going on here?

Anyone else ever have this mismatch on their Guild?

Hans?

Thanks!

While waiting for Hans, there have been a couple of discussions of serial number mismatches. Sometimes it is attributed to sloppy handwriting and sometimes to "Italian Pepsi" at lunch. Regardless of cause it is not unheard of.

Hello jazzmang,

The serial number on the back of the headstock is the correct one. The serial number on the label is copied from the back of the headstock and that's probably where the mistake was made.

If you look at the ink-stamped date on one of the beveled edges of the neckblock it should tell you when the rim was completed in the body shop. Your guitar was completed some time after that. Actually, I suspect it to be a JF-100 from 1999 instead of 1998. If the serial number had ended with '36' it would have been a JF-100 from 1996.

Please let us know what the verdict is!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
