Here is a great little archive film of Serge Gainsbourg at the piano, giving an informal trio performance of ‘All The Things You Are’ in 1964. Elek Bacsik accompanies him on his customised Guild archtop with a Charlie Christian pickup at the neck position.

Very cool! I love the look they give each other at 1:15. BTW, is Bacsik's cigarette even lit?

Saperlipopette! Gainsbourg was talented indeed ... Bacsik was a great player, rather a mysterious character. I think he wound up conducting orchestras in Las Vegas, or something...... 1:15 is really cool!.... "Gitanes maïs" were common at that time, strong black stinky tobacco wrapped in yellowish paper.They could last for hours if you stopped inhaling,then you lit it again, let it hang from your lip, lit again, etc...

He played on a number of other peoples' records, but only issued a few records under his own name, including ones with with such heavyweights as Stephane Grappelli and Elvin Jones.
Like Gabor Szabo he was born in Budapest. He lived most of his life in France, but settled on the west coast of the US west coast in the mid-60s.
Never knew he was a Guild guy!
