The SB-201 reminds me of the 1st style G&L SB-1 bass. I used an SB-1 in a rockabilly band and it sounded great with the single pickup placed mid-body. I've never played one, but I'll bet the Guild does, too, for the same reason. The G&L has a maple body with 34" scale. Anyone know what body wood and scale the SB-201 has?

Mahogany?

34" Scale.

I have a weird prototype SB-201!

The neck angle was set really steep so the bridge is a mile in the air! Obviously this was not the final body shape.

Compare it to my production SB-202:

If I recall correctly both neck and body were mahogany on the SB-200s.

Good catch on the similarity, GG! Although the Guild body appears to be somewhat smaller than the G&L and also the curves of the bouts seem deeper on the Guild.
