Hello again,

So I recently purchased an S-275 from 1982. Blonde maple cap on a red mahogany body, gold hardware, nice chunky neck. This guitar *plays* great, intonation is accurate through 24 frets. No damage, very well taken care of by its previous owner(s).

The problem is the XR-7 pups. Dear god. Noisy, muddy at the bottom, very touch-sensitive. I find I'm having to learn to play this guitar - I've played for 35 years.

I want to change it up, cool it down. I don't expect single coil clarity from HBs. I'm considering DiMarzio 36th anniversary PAFs: DP223 and DP103.
I know the Guild HBs won't fit without a router. I don't want to do that.

Anybody experienced with these? How do the Guild purists feel about this mod? The XRs are uncovered, black bobbins. DM makes the PAFs with whatever detailing one might want. How do we feel about gold covers to match the gold hardware?

I play classic to hard rock type stuff and I really like the XR-7's. IMO pickup swaps are one of the "funs" of having an electric guitar. I mean if you can swap them without altering or added extra holes, etc.. no harm no foul! Just keep the original pickups with the guitar and its all good!

Pics of that S-275 would be nice!!

I'm sure there are instructions somewhere. How do I put pics up on here?
