Ok, it's not a big connection, but I was watching a video with Ford on his '60 Tele, and when he talks about his early preference for Gibsons, he mentions that
My first real good electric was a Guild Starfire III with a single sharp cutaway

...... but he forgot to mention that he played a Cherry finished Guild Starfire 4 while playing with George Harrison during the 1974 Dark Horse Tour!

I saw The Robben Ford Band on Friday night at a small theatre here in central Virginia. I sat in the 7th row directly in front of his Dumble Overdrive Special amp. My ears are still ringing two days later! But, I enjoyed every sensory blasting moment of it. Lee Roy Parnell was also on the bill. He played some tasty slide guitar on his Gold Top Les Paul. The surprise of the evening was a young kid (26 yrs.) from Australia. Joe Robinson lives in Nashville now. On acoustic, he has the chops of Tommy Emmanuel, and he plays a Stratocaster in the style of a young Eric Johnson. Keep an eye (and ear) open for him!
