Hi. Some years ago Treem and I swapped guitars and I ended up with the axe that would stay with me as my number one for the duration. Recently, I've decided that the original Grovers are a bit of a pain in the ***, as it can be hard to make fine adjustments on the D G and B strings, in particular. This problem tends to persist even after a pro setup.

I'm curious whether anyone has a recommendation for a "no new holes required" high quality replacement that might offer finer and more consistent adjustment. I've always been pretty much a plug and play and not sweat the details player, but I do hate being more out of tune than needs be.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

What kakerlak said. Keep it true to the original with new Grovers. That '73 M-75 GS is one of the best-looking sunburst M-75s I've ever seen.

Thanks so much for this info! I will buy them with next weekend's gig money! Assuming I make that much! And thanks for the kind words about the guitar. I agree that it's pretty stunning, even if life has left it with an honest relic job.

When I get my act together I'll try to post some photos of my other Guild, which I don't think I've posted before. A 54 Stratford x375. It needed a binding repair after I rescued it from a friends attic, but its actually even sweeter than the m75. Theres a shot of it that my local luthier posted (7th image down) if you want to check it out.

Thanks again!

You know it Tristan. I almost posted it on Reverb last summer but just couldn't do it. I do have a dirty secret though. Ido been wanting a little more of a Lester vibe, particularly in the bridge. In the end i replaced the HB-1st with lollar imperial - low wind neck and regular bridge. The bridge pickup is amazing, but I prefer the hb1 in the neck, so will eventually swap it back in. Allowed me to experiment without moving on from the best guitar that ever happened for me.

I played a brew fest a few weeks ago and had it video'duration I'll try to get it posted so you can see her sing when my friend gets done editing the whole mess

Hi Guys. I bought the Grover replacements and I am very happy with them. Two small issues you might want to be aware of. While they installed easily and required no mods of any kind, the screws were smaller than the originals, so I had to reuse my old ones. Also - the tuner shaft was a bit narrower and wouldn't work with my original bushings - I had to use the new ones. This was no problem for me because my old ones just fell right out, but could be an issue if the old ones were for some reason stuck. Thanks for the guidance!
