This was a popular notion in the 1990's and my how we have changed since then as I read that "searing lungs and burning quads - apparently very offputting to newbies - are a thing of the past" with Ebikes. Ebikes, because you couldn't just pedal like the old days.
Yay for missing out on the biggest thing biking has ever had to offer, a cardio workout like no other, undoubtedly why I'm still here today, as I pumped my way through my teens like crazy, riding 40 miles to the big city on single speed Schwinns that weighed who knows what.
The single speed bike made you strong. Not about speed but strength, I still find single speed bikes amazing to ride and pride myself on making hills, it's quite an endorphin release.
