Very nice, I watched it last night. That's Ted (Theodore) McCarty in the beginning of the video.
I loved for instance watching that girl fretting that fretboard! So damn fast! (Minute 8:23)

By the way, Gibson just released one of his original designs that was so far never made until now! A special "Archive Collection" run limited to just 318 total instruments offered in three colors: Natural, Cherry, and Ebony.

Looks like they took a Rick tulip body and slimmed it down.

And it's $5000! Gibson sure has some stones.

Interesting. The Combo 400 model introduced in 1956 and Ted McCarty's drawing is from March 1957! So maybe the "Theodore" is not "Authentic" and Rickenbacher should sue Gibson now?:p

And it's $5000!
The pricetag is actually low for a Gibson CS model as the recent "1958 Korina Flying V Reissue" and the "1958 Korina Explorer Reissue" each were $9,999 ! (https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Guitars/Collection/Custom Shop)

A shop near me had all three for sale yesterday (3/18) and they were sold within minutes for EUR 4,995 each! They didn't even have the time taking real pictures, they usually have each guitar with at least 10 real pictures on their webpage, no need here. Simply sold. With only 106 pcs. each they are a collectors item.

Actually the black one is still on hold, probably will be sold on Monday:

Very cool, thanks for sharing! I find any guitar factory tour fascinating, but if it's from another era... even better!

Here's another cool one of the Höfner factory that seems to have been shot sometime in the 70s maybe? Hard to say, but still very cool regardless!

On a sidenote, if they made the Theodore as a US standard series, I'd be interested. I think it's a neat design!

Very cool!

walrus

I wonder how many of the techniques used by Gibson were also used by Guild? Too bad nobody has unearthed a long-lost factory film for Guild in Hoboken (or NYC or Westerly).

That is a great video Walrus. Thanks for sharing. Scary how much was done back without lung, eye or much other safety protection. The guy spraying lacquer… good lord!
