have a hollow body (ES 335 copy)electric comming and this may seem like a stupid question but electric strings or could I use acoustic strings ?

You can always use acoustic strings on an electric, you won't hurt anything, but it won't sound very good - pickups are magnetic, and acoustic strings don't work very well with magnetic pickups.
