I may have messaged something before to this effect but I'm gonna do it again.
I had two miserable experiences with Corona built acoustics before and swore I'd never get another. But two fairly recent pickups have made me question that. One is a Valencia. It's loaded with finish checking (but I truly don't care) on it's beautiful gloss black body (one of my faves for an acoustic). It's a really sweet and fairly rare guitar and I feel blessed to own it. I'll be sending it to Tom Jacobs for a wellness check but I'm not aware of any issues.
Second is a Corona built F 50 in a beautiful burst finish, again with plenty of checking. It's got an absolutely huge voice with pronounced lows and those crisp, clear mids and trebles I have grown so fond of over the years. I believe this to be one of my best sounding F 50's. Again, no issues I am aware of but the checking and again, as long as that's reflected in the price (it was) I'm perfectly fine with it. I'm going to play it tomorrow unplugged at our local open mic get together.
I'm old, pretty stubborn and pretty set in my ways but things like this may be helping me to think "younger" and to try and keep an open mind. I've got a long ways to go though and not much time to get there I suspect.
