...I'm not sure I fit the rest of the line...so let me just say hello.

I just started an attempt to learn guitar a couple years ago (at 54) and although I can struggle through some easy chord songs and play some riffs I am by no means a guitar player yet.

The lack of ability has not stopped the notorious G.A.S. from working on me. I have about a dozen guitars, half a dozen amps, and more stuff lying around than I know what to do with.

I bought my 1sy Guild about a year ago, but I was mostly playing electric at the time. I found this place last week while researching the new Guild Starfire IV ST and decided to join.

I spend most of my time on Everything SG and My Les Paul, but hope to stay active here as well.

Thanks for having me...

Welcome. You will find you are not alone. Many of us have decades of experience but not much of that playing an instrument :)

Well, that's certainly the case for me but it doesn't stop any of us from drooling and lusting after guitars and wanting to talk about them etc.

Looks like you're already gassin' pretty good and that's a good thing.

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A hearty welcome! Don't say you won't fit in! I started guitar in September 2014, at the age of 58 with a goal to shred by the time I'm 60. Well, 60 looms and I don't think I'm gonna make it, but I'm loving learning guitar and wish I had started it 40 years earlier. I found this place just over a year ago while researching the Guild D-55 and decided to join. The members here are terrific, more than willing to share their knowledge and offer encouragement. It's a really great place to be and I'll bet you're going to like it here.

WELCOME TO LTG!
GAS is far reaching and it affects us all in different degrees, but it's a shared illness so you'll fit in just fine. The main qualification is just wanting to be here, and here you are.
:encouragement:

Cheers,
Joe

Welcome Sp8ctre! This is one of the Friendliest Forums I have ever been a part of with Great Members who openly share their knowledge. I see in your post you mentioned you purchased your first Guild a year ago, May I ask What model do you have? You will soon find that we are pretty much all addicted to guitar photos, especially ones of Guilds so feel free to post photos if you like. Lots of great folks here with lots of Great info and while we all have Guild in common a lot of us have other guitars in are arsenals as well. Kudos to you for picking up guitar when you did, Here on the forum their are all types of people with different skill levels from beginners to professionals so you will fit right in. By the way, It doesn't matter how experienced you are with a guitar, GAS is a non discriminating disease that we openly encourage every chance we get! Look forward to hearing more about your Guild and yourself and like I said before, Welcome!

Forget about the guitars, I wanna know how you managed to find a pic of Spectre # 7 from November of 1968 for your avatar.
I was primarily a Marvel man but Spectre was one of the DC characters that was cool and well-drawn enough for me to collect, along with Metamorpho, the Metal Men, and Hawk and Dove.

Welcome aboard! You're about the same age as me. I have many guitars but only one Guild, although I love the brand and adore my S-100. I was just recording with it yesterday, matter of fact.

This is a good board. What unites us is an appreciation for Guild. And hey - if you don't fit in, none of us do!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I'm sure I'll fit right in here.

I had only one Guild until yesterday...it is a Guild M-120 GAD...but yesterday my new Guild Starfire IV ST arrived! So off to do a NGD thread...

Nice intro ;-)

Haven't been here long enough to welcome anyone, but it looks like we're exactly the same age ;-) If the guitar thing had hit you 30 years ago, you'd be that much broker ;-)))) Got my Guild in the mail today, not much time to type, but welcome ;-) and post nice pics of yr gear!

PS After 30 years, I still suck on the guitar, but whatever... that's why you want gear like this, because IT sounds good, you don't have to sound that good, just be yourself, and be innovative ;-)
