Played a New D-40 and D-50 Today...

Dropped by Gelb Music in Redwood City, CA and played a new D-50BS and a new D-40BJ.

Both were fantastic sounding with a slight edge towards the D-40 (my ear always prefers mahogany). Fit and finish on both were all you could ask for. The back and sides of the D-40 were polished to an exceptionally high degree and just looked fantastic.

Stunning instruments!!!

Resurrecting an old topic, Guitar Showcase in San Jose confirmed to me a couple of weeks ago that they won't be stocking Guilds (as you mentioned a couple of months ago)... but they'll order anything you want. In my business we call that "brokering" and it really p----s us off when us STOCKING merchants pay all the inventory carrying costs.... :evil: Oh well. Are they going to be the area stocking merchant?

It's great to see some New Hartford stock in the stores. I keep looking at the two Sam Ash stores near me.

It's great to see some New Hartford stock in the stores.

I dropped into a big store (Steve's in Toronto) yesterday (just happened to be walking by :wink: ). They had about 6 GADs, a DV6, and 3 NH Guilds. Their acoustic room is very crowded; the lower-priced guitars are easily reached, but the more expensive stuff is up high, out of casual reach. I was able to look at the GADs & DV6, but the NHers were too high to look at closely. I didn't have time to ask a staffer to get one down for me, but it's nice to see them in stock!
