Paul Simon is truly a "class act". A treasure.

Simon & Garfunkel had it all: intelligent lyrics, wonderful melodies and incredible harmonies. I know every generation has it's own music, but seems those of us who came of age in the 60's had something very special.
Thanks for the clip!

And what a perfect soundtrack for the Graduate, a seminal movie for many of the same crowd.

I love that Paul Simon era where he played the Guild. Seems that lately both he, and his wife play a Martin OM-42. That model of Martin certainly has plenty of bling, and most guitar players probably cannot afford to own one. As for me I would like one of each, thatis the Martin and the Guild, that way it would depend on my mood which one I would play..., yah right, I'll keeop dreaming. -Craig

Terry--

Even those of us born in the 70's know a good thing when we hear it. Kathy's Song is still the first thing I play when I pick up my D55.

I hear the drizzle of the rain, like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing, tapping on my roof and walls.

Who couldn't love that opening?
One of my all-timers, too.

Paul Simon pulled a "do you know who I am?" on a friend of mine in the 70's. His hired private plane forgot to schedule him and my friend was working on the freight side of the terminal...it was late at night, and no other planes were available and no other pilots were around. So Paul took his misfortune out on my friend. Really treated him like dirt...and my friend didn't have anything to do with the situation. Finally...after several minutes of ranting, Paul put his face in my friends and said..."Do you know who I am?"

I haven't been able to appreciate his music since I heard what a dink he was.

just sayin

So that was like, what, about 40 years ago that you "heard what a dink he was?" I'd say it's time to move on and bury the hatchet. It's about sticks and stones, you know.

I'm not one to defend rude behavior of anyone but we all have our moments. :?

And like you, I'm just sayin',

Cheers,
Joe

Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

B. Dylan

I knew that sounded familiar.

Or as Mr Simon later added to the 'Boxer'..

"The years are rolling bye me, they are rocking even me,
I am older than I once was, and younger than I'll be,
Its not unusual, no, it isn't strange,
After changes upon changes we are more or less the same,
After changes we are more or less the same"

Ever since hearing S&G for the first time in the 60's, I have been influenced by their music and I've never tired of either, even after they went solo. Just to tease, isn't anyone going to admire Paul's line, "I stepped outside and smoked myself a J..."?

Since my GAD-25 is such a throwback to the all mahogany guitars of that era, it's brought out the feelings in me to play a lot of the old S&G or Peter, Paul & Mary songs... some Peter & Gordon thrown in... a bit of Beatles... It's been a lot of good times since I got it.
