is there a P 90 pickup that could drop into the cavity for a Slim Jim, Guild T100D ? Anyone tried that? Mickey Mouse pickups definitely have a cool vibe but I’m curious what a P 90 would sound like. I’m not going to alter the guitar, wondering if there’s a pickup manufacturer that would make one to fit ? Cheers

The chrome soapbar pickup of the '63-'64 era are a P90 ish sounding pickup. They are a little smoother sounding with less high frequency edge. A Slim Jim with those pickups would be more to your preference. Not easy to find that model but they exist.

There isn't one that I know of. There might be a way to fabricate a mount for a telecaster neck pickup, but a direct swap? I don't think there is one.

I had Pete Biltoft of Vintage Vibe make a P-90 style pickup to fit into the original pickguard of my 1964 Polara. I also did not want to alter the original pickguard. I gave him the cutout size, corner diameter, distance between the adjustment screws, etc. He built a pickup to my specs (Type of magnet, output, etc.) and it sounds great. I would have no reservations recommending him. The only heads up is there will not be a standard pickup cover to fit the custom sized pickup. I opted for a ”naked” look with a tele bridge pickup top material and it turned out really well. The price was also very fair.

edited: I original said a tele neck pickup rather than bridge

The MM is a very narrow pickup.
Yes it is. I’m guessing it won’t be easy to find something unless it’s custom built. It’s only an idea. It’s a great guitar, and I don’t hate the Mickey Mouse pickups, they cut, but not so versatile , the bridge pickup that is. I’m curious if anyone has tried it.

Just an FYI, I had Pete Biltoff also build a "P-90 style" pickup, but for a '65 X-50. It sounded great!
