On this day in history, June 1, 1967, the Fab Four — aka the Beatles — released their 8th studio album, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," an artistic musical accomplishment still hailed today.

Just cause it is one of my least fave albums of all time, does not mean it was not a seminal moment in recording history.

Odd, the release date I see listed for Sgt Pepper is May 26th.

Edit: go figure, Wikipedia has it wrong!! It is June 1st, as all I had to do was look up the day Hendrix covered it, which was on the 4th, just 3 days after it’s release! Paul tells that story of seeing him play it regularly!

I'm curently reading the two part biography of George Martin. Just another reminder of the unreal pace that the music of The Beatles evolved in such a short period of time. Martin was as amazed as anyone.

Only 4 years and 2 months after the release of "Please Please Me"!
