The original tuning heads on my '60 SFIII are getting stiff to turn, and are not holding the tune. I have put some light machine oil in the little hole in the back with no reall improvement. So I would like to replace them with original style heads. They are nickle plated, Klusons with metal buttons. The reviews I have read do not seem to be too good on the Klusons, but I do not want to drill holes, etc. I am inclined just to get a new set with the hopes that they will do much better than my 50 year old set. Thoughts?

Hey BIGFOOT,
The Klusons will be just fine.
I've replaced many sets on guitars that had original Klusons and have never had a problem... so far

Skinny, they lasted 50 years for if I can get something close to that with replacments I should be fine. Thx for sharing your experience with them.
