What a great opportunity! I hope you didn't have to buy the gas!
Nope, it was all free.

The owner was a successful lawyer and loved WWII aircraft. His P-51 was a Cavalier Conversion made for Vietnam use. This meant it had a back seat added and was fitted with an extra full set of flight controls.

When the owner got hold of it, he had it fully restored to like-new condition and had it painted in WWII Normandy invasion colors.

My flying days in it ended when the guy got divorced in the late 70's and lost the plane in the settlement. But it was sure fun "beating up" the Napa Wine Valley and ripping down the beaches of northern California in that baby!

This one is always a special treat. The throaty sound is unmistakeable.

I'm thinking that's the same Lancaster I visited some years back in Geneseo, NY.

Of course, just about every Allied WWII warbird was present at that show.

8) I'm insanely jealous. What a ride!
ps, A friend of mine used to describe his divorce as "incredibly expensive... and worth every penny!"
