Its a good thing it wasn't upside down, otherwise it would only be good in N.Z. or maybe Australia.  Steffan
The worst part is I can never remember if it's a lefty or a standard until I try it both ways. "Let's see now, the thick string is supposed to be closer to my face, right???"
At least I can still remember to point the hole AWAY from me. I knew that basic gun handling course would come in handy sooner or later! :D

Coastie can help you out, he is an expert in all that stuff.  Steffan

Yeh but, F50 and D55 always had black pickguards. The new guards are tortoise as well as having a differant shape. Are they going back to black?

The pickguard colors on the D-models have varied over the years... at least on the D-50 and D-55. My '92 D-55 has a tortoise guard... and a somewhat wider shape, extending under the strings at least as far as the B string (I have seen that shape on other Guilds from that era). On the other hand, my "new" old D-50 has a black guard... but I have seen earlier and later examples with tortoise. My D-46 also has a black guard (don't think I have ever seen tortoise on a 46). All the rest of mine are tortoise.

Although I prefer tortoise guards, it's not such a big deal that I am going to swap them out.

Well, it's a good start. Next, they should lose the open back tuners on the D-55 and go back to the Westerly specs on bracing, etc.

Always "bugs" in 1.0

While hoping to find I new F512 with the traditional pick guard I may have to replace the open back tuners when I get it. I really do not like them.

Bill, you must be very excited! Are you getting a natural top or a burst?

Hey, no problem... Grover Rotos are still kickin' after all these years! Just give dklsplace a holler!

I am excited, but still tentative. This is dependent on my very wealthy father-in-law. My wife is going to ask him for the cash for this Christmas present so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I love the natural wood so I will go with that. I just have to make sure I get one with the traditional pickguard. :)

The traditional pickguard has the power to stop a speeding cyclist.
This one 'called out to me' from a pawn shop 100' away as I was on my way home.
