I guess with the intro of the Kim Thayil Signature model, Guild took the opportunity to discontinue the Korean-made S-100. Wanna bet if the standard S-100 returns, it's made in Indonesia?

I noticed that, too.

The only S100s currently available are Indonesian.

Would this be Korean? That's the pic, but there's a wait for stock, so guessing what arrives is the Indonesian model?

Without any direct contact with Guild management or participation on LTG by current Guild employees, it's hard to know if they're playing games with the foreign inventory due to bank covenants (i.e., the bank tells them what they have to do with inventory/producction) or whether they are just chasing the cheapest production costs.

I would've thought the S-100 was one of the hot sellers, but it's quite possible I'm wrong about that. Regardless, it certainly seems that they've been able to sell Indonesian-made Guilds at significantly cheaper prices than the MIK 'leccie models.

Yes, that was Korean. You can see it on the serial number, KWM is Korea World Music, If it starts with "I" it is Indonesian:

In the first few years they came from Sound Professional in Korea (Korea SPG Guild), here a 2013 model, those SPG made guitars had the best quality I think. Also real Grover tuners for instance.

I am almost in the position of a brand new KSG S100 Polara, found online! I am thinking of putting the Guild humbuckers / take out the dual coils, and a phase switch on it , ala Kim Thayil. Worth the mod?

Interesting looking at the headstock backs side by side. The shapes and tuners are different.

The shapes and tuners are different.
The one of the left is a NS S-100 Polara with the standard "Newark Street" shape that is basically a '50s Guild headstock with a hump top (instead of a moustache top). The one on the right is the NS Kim Thayil signature model that was spec'd to have a '70s style Guild headstock shape along with Rotomatic tuners.

Is a moustache top the same as what they call an open book, like Gibson headstocks?

I got lost here... I doubt that any new Guilds are being made with Gibson-style (open-book) headstocks... Am I wrong? I mean staying away from those is one of the outcomes of the '70s lawsuit (Norlin vs. Hoshino) era.
