Here in Canada, November 11 is Remembrance Day. The Armistice ending the First World War was signed at 11 am on November 11, 1918. So the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month is reserved around the world as a time to reflect on the horror and futility of war, of the sometime need for people to take up arms to resist evil, and to remember the fighters and civilians who are killed, maimed and ruined in service of various governments' political objectives.

I'll be down at our local cenotaph today for two minutes of silence at 11.

Veterans Day/Remembrance Day....a mixture of pride and sadness for those who helped us retain our freedoms.......my stepfather who fought in the 1st world war is in my thoughts today.....and he was barely a teenager at the time....one of the finest men I've known....

Does make you wonder if the time will ever come that people always use four digits for years because using times that are a century apart is commonplace.

My grandfather shipped off his wife and soon to be born son on the Queen Mary, no lights or deckchairs and running at almost 30 knots, to stay ahead of the advancing horde. He stayed and did battle for the next four years and after his decomission saw for the first time, his now five year old son, my father. Every Nov. 11 I stop at eleven a.m. and remember......

Tonight at 11 p.m. I will sit and meditate for the change of energy from the dark to the light....from the predisposition to settle differences by taking up arms....from the inclination to go from wanting some other guy's stuff, to seizing it by taking up arms....from the machinations of a not so silent few, to control all the necessities of living, breathable air, clean water to drink, the very food we eat that sustains our bodies, and the myriad simple and complex things that bring daily joy into our life, control delivered by legal pen and cold steel. Remembering what happend on Nov.11 is important....then why are we still doing the same ol' song and dance. Time to pick it up or as my favorite DJ in New Orleans would say as his call mantra...'Time for all the childrens to bear down on it"....No More Okey Doke.

No, I think it is so when they have it annulled or they get divorced in less than a year they can always claim they just got caught up in the hysteria of a few numbers. :lol:
