Hi all here at LTG! Just got a SFIV & have a few questions. The serial number on the guitar is AG000077. From what I can gather, it is from 1996. Can someone verify this? Also, what pickups would be in this one? I'll find out pretty soon--will have to take a look myself--just wondering if anyone would have some info base on the SN# alone.
Will post pix soon!
THANKS!
1st crappy pix, better ones on the way!

Welcome to LTG. Starfires are great. The serial number listing from Guild's website dates your guitar to 1996, but the lists are often wrong. Someone else may have a different (and correct) year. Probably has the SD-1 pickups.

Welcome to the show, plagtr2. Beautiful Starfire you have there. The top has a great grain pattern to it. Reminded me a little of a spalted maple.

I think the pickup covers looked the same for Guild HB-1s and Seymour Duncan SD-1's, so purely from the look it's hard to tell. But when you take them out it should become clear.
If they are Guild HB-1's they should look like the pictures on Hans Moust's webpage:

If they are SD-1's they look like this picture GAD posted previously:

Notice the difference at the soldering terminals?

Pickups are Duncan. Easy spot via the sticker on 'em. That & Scott @ S/D verified that the pups are based on their '59 model. Makes sense.
Tone pot on bridge pickup was not working. Turned out to be a solder joint that had come loose. This of course required removal of the pots & such for the fix. Good time to go ahead with the RS pots & caps! Don't know how many folks here use the RS stuff, but it made a noticiable improvement in tone & the "range" or "sweep" of their pots is a very usable feature. Plus I am a fan of 500k pots with humbuckers in general. The Guild OE's appear to be 300k. Now, lets see if I can leave well enough alone and get some good time in playing the guitar!

Beautiful guitar! I bet it screams with SD1s in there.

I love RS stuff. I put it in almost all of my guitars, though honestly, I haven't in my Starfires.
