Refinished neck, red stain on the bottom end pretty much gone, setup. Holy moly mother of Guild goodness.

The guy who worked on it lives up the road so he brought it over and of course that turned into a couple hours of talking about guitars. Way past bedtime. More later.

Definitely appears to be worth the wait. Were you expecting to get it back so fast after getting the ash-bodied Tele Deluxe?

Neck looks real good. How's it sound after all the fixes?

 14 months?!

I can't complain too much because the reason for the delay was some pretty serious medical issues. The good news though is that it ended up being $100 less than I expected. Haven't given it much of a test drive yet but it is a totally different guitar now - neck feels awesome, action is low, frets are all good, and the string tension is perfect.

Q, you know that I might have been converted to the S series guits if you brought that beauty to Va when you came. HMMOGG. It was good hanging out.

Yeah, but the next time I stop by I'll need a lot more time to get to know your guitars. Maybe you'll convert me to the M-series. Sooooo many!

This S300-A has the same neck as the M-80 you bought from me and the Guild HB-1 pickups. Now that it's set up properly it's definitely a sweet guitar. But I'm surprised I didn't convert you with the S-100's.

It sounded brutally awesome before, even with the issues. Equally as awesome now, but this one more than my others is suited to metal playing. I guess it's the neck and string tension that allows for more precise triplet-ing. And that's a good thing. \m/'-_-'\m/

One more thing about the work he did: the neck had to be stripped to get the bad lacquer off so it was refinished in a way that it doesn't feel glossy like my other guitars, but it's nice and smooth. And since the lacquer had aged to a different color he had to add some orange tint to make it match the rest of the guitar. Otherwise it would be a stark white maple neck with a yellowed ash body. I think he hit the color match dead on.
